Translation Initiative (TI) Workspace (NCI/MADCaP)

Edit this workspace

The goal of GEM-TI is to promote the selection and translation of measures from English-to-non-English and non-English-to-English through a three-step process:
  1. Achieve consensus on priority measures to translate into particular languages,
  2. Crowdsource translation, and
  3. Evaluate and rate the process and quality of the translated measures.
The Men of African Descent and Carcinoma of the Prostate (MADCaP) Consortium will serve as one of GEM-TI's initiatives in the translation of measures. Formed in 2007, MADCaP is a multi-institutional collaboration of epidemiologic studies brought together to address the high burden of prostate cancer among men of African descent. This consortium endeavors to understand the complex multifactorial causes of prostate cancer etiology and outcomes among men of African ancestry worldwide. MADCaP investigators share common interests in studying health disparities, underserved populations, and how genetic and non-genetic factors could impact disparities. The consortium includes investigators from the, Africa, the Caribbean, United Kingdom, and the United States. MADCaP has identified three priority languages to translate measures into: English, French and Portuguese.
