Construct Name: Injunctive norms (formerly subjective norms)
Definition of Construct: 1. an individual's perception that most people who are important to her think she should (or should not) perform a particular behavior (Fishbein & Ajzen, 2010, p. 131); 2. The injunctive meaning of norms refers to rules or beliefs as to what constitutes morally approved and disapproved conduct (Cialdini et al., 1990, p. 1015); 3. perceptions concerning what should or ought to be done with respect to performing a given behavior (Fishbein & Ajzen, 2010, p. 131); 4. Belief about whether most people approve or disapprove of the behavior (Montano & Kasprzyk, 2008, p. 74);
