General Information
Construct Name: Delay Discounting
Definition of Construct: Delay discounting, or temporal discounting is a cognitive process that represents a comparison of values between the immediate and delayed consumption of a determined commodity. Delay discounting depicts the tendency of people to give greater value to rewards as they move away from their temporal horizons and towards the present, with high delay discounting suggesting a preference for small, immediately available rewards as compared to larger rewards in the future.
