Brief Description: The Alberta Context Tool (ACT) contains 56 items with 5- and 6-point Likert response formats. The context dimensions included are intended to be modifiable by interventions. The eight core context dimensions in the ACT include: (1) leadership, (2) culture, (3) evaluation, (4) social capital, (5) structural and electronic resources, (6) formal interactions, (7) informal interactions, and (8) organizational slack (comprised of three sub-concepts: staffing, space, and time resources).

Alberta Context Tool (ACT) was designed to parsimoniously measure organizational context as perceived by healthcare providers working in complex healthcare settings. This measure was intended for administration at the level of the individual healthcare provider to determine their perception of context as it applies to a patient care unit or organization (e.g., hospital), depending on the individual's context of care delivery.
