Brief Description: This 38 item survey was adapted from Metcalfe et al, which identified barriers to implementing evidence based treatments. Three subscales include seven items on the background of the respondent, seven items on respondents’ attitudes to the perceived importance of research (PIR) and twenty-four items assessing respondents’ perceived barriers. The second and third subscales use a five-point Likert scale with categories ranging from strongly agree to strongly disagree. The Cronbach’s alpha value for the PIR scale was 0.81, suggesting high internal consistency. PIR items include: Research is not important for the growth of your professional practice; Treating patients is more important than doing research; Treating patients is more important than reading and finding research; Doing research is not a high priority for me; Finding and reading research is not a high priority for me; Doing research is of no interest to me; Finding and reading research evidence is of no interest to me.
